You are, in many respects, where you come from. I grew up in Oregon. I’m a tree-hugger, a pragmatist, a believer in live-and-let live, and I consider the entire West Coast my happy place. My soul is full when I take in the sweeping Oregon coastline from the top of Cape Perpetua.

I’m a journalist and storyteller by trade. TV to public relations. Life has tried to beat me up at times, but if you knock me down, I will get back up. I’m incredibly excited about the future. Mother of two, wife, daughter, sister. Not always in that order.

I grew up asking a lot of questions. I was a curious (and sometimes skeptical) kid. It drove my parents nuts, but this habit ultimately lead to a career in journalism. For many years, I worked as a TV anchor and reporter, hopping from Maryland to Alaska to Iowa. Life eventually brought me back to Minnesota and into a career in public relations, which gives me the opportunity to tell the stories of brands. This podcast has been a great outlet to continue to feed my random need to interview people.

A true Minnesota girl, I am happiest at the lake. My husband and I, along with our two kids, spend as much time as possible Up North. We love the BWCA, and my favorite vacation destination is Grand Marais — even when it’s -50.

When asked during job interviews, “Where do you see yourself in five years?”, I can’t stop myself from laughing. My plan WAS to be a sports broadcaster (Monday Night Football, to be exact), travel endlessly and float home for holidays to visit siblings and parents. Hah!

I spent 11 years in Montana as a reporter/news director, got married, had an amazing little boy (surprise!), got divorced, stayed to continue an amazing career leading two separate news stations, earned two Associated Press writing awards, numerous honorable mentions, but decided home was where my heart was.

More than a decade ago, I moved back to my hometown of Stillwater and landed an amazing job covering the Minnesota Legislature. I won a Regional Emmy Award, had another son (another surprise!) and left broadcasting to work in the PR and communications fields - currently with the Minnesota Department of Health telling the stories of our partners to highlight positive areas in the horrific opioid epidemic (yes, there are positive stories). This podcast provides an opportunity to delve a bit into my love of journalism with two other pro’s who are more than colleagues- they are friends.
